Tony RobbinsTony Robbins is a master public speaker and persuader. If you want to improve your speaking and persuasion skills so you can make more sales, improve your relationships or enhance your career, then you might want to pay some attention to Tony Robbins.

Luckily a fellow blogger and an NLP master Tom O’Conner from NLP Times took Tony Robbins’s “Unleash the Power Within” sales presentations and broke it down and explained what Tony is doing from the beginning to the end.

You will learn how Tony does reframing beliefs, anchoring, changing states of minds, and persuading people to take action. These are things we also teach in our one full day public speaking boot camp in San Francisco in addition to teaching you public speaking confidence, comfort and authenticity in front of your audience .

People who learn public speaking fast, typically focus on learning one or two techniques at a time and try to implement them right away.

So watch the video, learn a couple of things and find a place to try them out.

Video 1: Tony beginning to build a propulsion system and reframe common resistance beliefs

Video 2: Anchoring an extraordinary life, chaining ideas and eliciting a self-convincer

Video 3: Amplifying certainty state, teaching self-anchoring and finally triggering “go for it”

How To Learn Public Speaking Skills Fast

Posted on: May 5, 2010 at 8:13 pm

The fastest way to improve your public speaking skills is to follow this easy four step formula.

  1. Learn “one” public speaking technique
  2. Implement the technique in front of a live audience
  3. Get feedback on the effectiveness of the technique
  4. Repeat the process with a new technique

Keep repeating the formula with each new technique you learn.  And before you know it, you will become a master communicator in front of any size group.

One: Learn “one” public speaking technique

The most important part of this step is to focus on only “one” public speaking technique at a time. There are hundreds of public speaking techniques to learn. If you chose to learn  too many of them at once, then the process could get overwhelming and lead you to not learn anything. You want to simplify your learning by focusing on one technique at a time. Master the technique and then move on to the next one.

Here are three good sources of public speaking skills techniques

Reading: Yes, you actually have to read, read and then read some more. Read everything you can get your hands on, especially when the topic is public speaking skills.

Watching Videos: If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is worth a million words. You will get so much just by watching videos of great presenters.

Watch videos of good speakers and take notes on their delivery techniques. If you can copy a technique or two from them in your next presentation then you’ve succeeded.

Here is a good source of good speaker’s videos:

TED: “TED” stands for “Technology, Entertainment, Design” and it is an annual conference with the core message of “ideas worth spreading”.

Take Trainings: Invest in Public speaking trainings and public speaking courses. Sometimes that’s the best way to get a large amount of techniques, practice them in front of a live audience and get immediate feedback on your delivery. Just make sure that the trainings you attend are hands on and you get a chance to implement all you’ve learned right then and there and get feedback on it.

Two: Implement the technique in front of a live audience

This is the most important step. If you don’t get in front of an audience and practice the new technique you’ve just learned, then you’ve learned nothing. Sign up for a public training, public speaking class or a safe public speaking group to practice your techniques and put them into use right away.

Here are two groups you can join today to implement your techniques:

  1. Toast Masters International
  2. MethodSpeaking bi-weekly Public Speaking Classes

Three: Get feedback on the effectiveness of the technique

You never know if a technique works unless you get feedback on it. Bellow is a list of four ways to get feedback on the effectiveness of your newly acquired technique:

  1. Video tape yourself and review the presentation later
  2. Ask your audience for feedback at the end of your presentation
  3. Get a public speaking coach to give you relevant feedback
  4. Take a training that uses video feedback and coaching

Four: Repeat the process with a new technique

A skill is composed of many techniques used together. The more techniques you know, the better your public speaking skills will get. So, keep adding new techniques to your arsenal and keep going through the process. Make sure that you are trying a new technique every single time you speak.

If you want to improve your public speaking skills fast then follow the proven four step formula. Learn one new technique, apply it in front of a live audience, get feedback and then repeat the process with a brand new technique. I recommend that you apply this formula with two new techniques a month. If you do so, then you will become a master communicator in no time.
